We are committed to publishing high-quality, original scholarship and analysis that advances understanding of cyber law and digital governance. These guidelines provide detailed instructions for prospective contributors to ensure clarity, quality, and consistency in all submissions.
A. Eligibility to Contribute
CRGCL encourages submissions from a broad spectrum of contributors, including:
- Legal academics and researchers specialising in cyber law and technology law
- Practising lawyers, judges, and legal consultants with expertise in cyber legal issues
- Policy experts, technologists, and digital rights advocates
- Graduate and postgraduate students with well-researched original work
- Interdisciplinary scholars engaging with technology, law, and governance
B. Types of Submissions Accepted
We welcome the following types of pieces for consideration:
- Research Articles: Original, well-argued academic papers (3,000-8,000 words) with rigorous citations and analysis
- Case Comments: Critical analysis of recent, significant judicial decisions impacting cyber law (1,500-3,000 words)
- Policy Briefs: Concise papers providing recommendations on legal or regulatory reforms (1,000-2,500 words)
- Opinion Pieces: Well-reasoned essays addressing current debates or emerging issues in cyber law (800-1,500 words)
- Explainers: Accessible write-ups clarifying complex technical or legal concepts for a broader audience (800-1,200 words)
- Interviews and Profiles: Q&A or features on leading figures in cyber law and governance
C. Originality and Ethics
- Submissions must be original and unpublished elsewhere.
- Plagiarism of any form is strictly prohibited. All sources must be properly cited.
- Submissions found to breach academic integrity will be rejected outright.
- Contributors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
- Any use of third-party data, images, or materials must include permission or proper attribution.
D. Manuscript Preparation Guidelines
- Language and Style: Submissions should be in clear, formal academic English (UK/India). Avoid jargon where possible and define technical terms.
- Word Count: Adhere to the prescribed word limits for each type of content.
- Formatting: Use Font Size of 12, Font – Times New Roman, 1.5-spaced, with 1-inch margins on all sides.
- Title Page: Include the title, author(s) names (s), affiliations, contact email, and a 150-word abstract.
- Structure: Use logical headings and subheadings. Include introduction, main body, conclusion, and references.
- Citations: Follow a consistent legal citation OSCOLA format. Provide full bibliographic details.
- Footnotes: Use for references and brief additional comments; avoid excessive footnoting.
- Tables and Figures: Number and title all tables and figures. Include source and copyright info.
E. Submission Process
- Submissions must be sent via email to info@crgcl.com as a Word document attachment.
- The email subject line should read: “CRGCL Submission – [Article Title]”
- Include a separate cover letter mentioning:
- The type of submission
- Confirmation of originality and exclusive submission to CRGCL
- Disclosure of any conflicts of interest
- A brief author biography (max 150 words)
- If submitting images, ensure they are high-resolution and you have the rights for publication.
F. Peer Review & Editorial Process
- All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review by at least two members of the editorial board.
- Initial editorial screening for scope and quality is conducted within 5 business days.
- Peer review typically takes 3-4 weeks.
- Authors may be requested to revise their manuscript based on reviewers’ feedback.
- The editorial board reserves the right to reject manuscripts not meeting standards or fitting with CRGCL’s thematic focus.
- Final decision rests with the editorial board; decisions are communicated via email.
G. Rights and Permissions
- Contributors retain copyright of their work but grant CRGCL a non-exclusive, worldwide license to publish, reproduce, and distribute in all formats.
- Contributors must ensure compliance with copyright laws for any third-party material.
- CRGCL will credit authors on all publications.
H. Timelines and Publication
- Accepted submissions will be scheduled for publication in upcoming issues or online releases.
- Publication timelines depend on revision cycles and editorial scheduling; approximate timelines will be shared post-acceptance.
- Authors will be notified of publication dates and receive proofs for final review.
